Good Evening Gators!

Thank you to the parents who joined us on Monday night for our first Parent Council Meeting. Parents please join us for our next Parent Council Meeting on November 5th, 2018, beginning at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons.

Thank you to our Student Council for running such a successful food drive!! Thank you to the students and families who enthusiastically participated by bringing in so many items! We will be donating 528 food items to support our local food bank in Milton.

Flag Football:  This week we held Flag Football tryouts for grade 7 and 8 students.  Thank you Mr. Pearson and Mr. Kryzanowski for running the tryouts and coaching.  We are looking forward to our first tournament at the end of October.

Cross Country: Even the wet weather could not keep our Sam Sherratt students from participating in the Cross Country Event for grades 3-8 this week. Thank you to Ms. Wheeler, Mr. Costello and Ms. McKenna for all your hard work and our parent volunteers who braved the weather to make this day run so smoothly!

Annie Jr.:  Grade 5 - 8 students were provided with an  information letter about our upcoming Annie Jr. Production.  An information meeting was held on Thursday for interested students who would like to audition for the musical.   Auditions will take place next Wednesday and Thursday. If your child missed the initial meeting and would like to audition please sign up on the Annie Jr. website.

Cultural Celebration:  This year Sam Sherratt will be holding their 1st annual Cultural Celebration on December 6, from 6 - 8 pm.  All families are invited to attend as well as to participate.  Please see our Cultural Celebration information letter for ways you can participate.  Please return completed letters by Monday, Oct. 15th.

Drumline: We are still in need of volunteers to assist with our Drumline.  This can involve as little or as much time as you are able to give us. Please let us know if you can help.

CCAT:  Our grade 4 students in Ms. Wheeler and Ms. Robb’s classes will take part in the Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test later in October.  If your child did not bring home an information letter, please let Ms. Wheeler or Ms. Robb know.

This week we were lucky enough to have RBC join us in the Learning Commons to run coding workshops for our students. Thank you to Ms. Belford and RBC for offering this wonderful learning opportunity to our students at Sam Sherratt!
