posted Sep 28, 2018, 5:31 PM by David Willoughby

Good Evening Gator Families!

Tonight at Sam Sherratt the Vex Robotics Club has its first meeting, they will meet in the new and improved Design and Technology room every Friday, from 3:20 until 5:00pm. Parents please remember to pick up your students at the front of the school promptly at 5:00pm.

Cross Country Reminder: For students in grade 3-8 who will be attending our Cross Country meet, it takes place on Oct 1st, at Kelso Park. Please come prepared for your day!

School Council: Please consider coming out to our Parent Council Meeting on Monday to join our council this year!  We will meet in the learning commons at 6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Annie: This year our school will be putting on a production of the musical Annie. There will be information sessions for students beginning next week, remember to listen to the morning announcements to find out where and when!

PA Day: Reminder that Friday Oct 5th is a PA day at school, all teachers will be involved in Professional Learning Activities and students get to enjoy a nice long weekend.

Thanksgiving: Oct 8th is Thanksgiving and all schools are closed. We hope that all of our families enjoy a nice long weekend.

Bike Racks: Please note that two of our bike racks have been moved closer to the school between the portables. This is so we can monitor them more closely. We left one bike rack in the fenced area for any families who like to visit the play area on the weekend so they still have somewhere to lock up their bikes.

Fundraising Campaign: Please remember that we have our current Laura Secord Fundraiser going on at school right now. In addition to Laura Secord chocolate bars we are also offering recipes in a jar. A neat idea that gives back to the community.  Please follow our link here and check out the website. Thank you for supporting our school!! Thank you to Suzie Williamson and Melissa Stoute for all of your help organizing the campaign and delivering the many boxes of chocolates!  Sam Sherratt fundraising campaign

A Message from Mrs. Belford / Volunteers Needed:  Our Learning Commons is also known as our library. This year I am super thrilled to be the Teacher Librarian again and look forward to seeing all the students using our learning space during instructional times and at nutrition breaks.  I will be in the Learning Commons space 50% of my day and therefore I am looking for volunteers to help shelf books when they have time in their day. I was hoping to have a flexible schedule and parents/community members with police checks can sign up to help based on their availability.  Volunteering in the Learning Commons can start whenever you are ready and have time.  Please send me an email at belfordl@hdsb.ca with your availability during the week and the amount of time you are able to commit and I can send you some more details. Thanks in advance for your help and support.

Parent Involvement Committee Conference:   InThe Halton District School Board’s Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) will be hosting the 11th Annual Parent Involvement Committee Conference on Saturday, October 13, 2018, from 8:15 a.m. – 2:10 p.m., at Garth Webb Secondary School in Oakville (2820 Westoak Trails Blvd).
