Gator Bites: Week of October 15th

Good Evening Gators!

We had some exciting learning taking place in our Learning Commons this week, with Breakout Edu: Escape rooms with Ms. Belford. Thank you for keeping us so current with fun learning Ms.Belford!!

Terry Fox: We will be participating in a Sam Sherratt Terry Fox event on Thursday October 18th, 2018.During period 6. Please bring a loonie or toonie on the day to support our Terry Fox run. Thank you to Mr. Kryzanowski for organising this event.

Fundraiser: Our Laura Secord Chocolate fundraiser is coming to an end, please return all leftover chocolate and money to the school by Tuesday October 16th, or Chocolate payments can be done on online at School Cash Online.   

Don't forget to place your orders for our Recipes in a Jar fundraiser either on our online store atsha.recipesinajar.ca or with the paper order form that was sent home with your student. Orders are due October 25th. Thank you for all of your support!!

Mystery Reads: Grade 5-8 students are encouraged to check out the fun Mystery Reads event taking place in the Learning Commons.

Thank you to Ms. Lowry and family for the generous book donations for our library! We are so excited to have received such a huge selection of new reads!

The Big Crunch: We will be participating in the big crunch at Sam Sherratt this year. On Oct 25th, 2018, during our first outside break we will all crunch into an apple at the same time. This is a fun school event to support our Food For Thought providers, and to learn about healthy eating. We will be collecting on that day a toonie to support “toonies for tummies” a fundraiser for Food For Thought, who generously help us with our healthy snack bin program at school.  If parents would like to donate to our snack program, you can also do this on our cashless system under “Healthy Snack Bin Program”. Thank you for your support!

Remembrance Day Assembly Nov. 12  -  We will have our Remembrance Day Assembly on Nov. 12th.  If you or any family members have been part of the Armed Forces and would like to come in and even speak to the assembly please let Mrs. Parker or Mrs. Watts know.

Parent Council: Thank you to the parents who came out for our October School Council Meeting.  Please see our website for any information on our council. We are in the process of updating our website and you will find the names of council members there.  Next meeting will be Monday, November 5th 2018, at 6:30pm.

Annie Jr.:  Grade 5 - 8 students took part in auditions for our upcoming Annie Jr. production this week.  For more information please see our  Annie Jr. website.

Mystery Reads

Gr. 5 - 8 students read descriptions on our new wrapped books and enter their name in a draw to be the first to read our latest great reads!

The 11th Annual  Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) Conference will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2018, from 8:15 a.m. – 2:10 p.m., at Garth Webb Secondary School in Oakville (2820 Westoak Trails Blvd). The theme of the conference is ‘Future Global Competencies: Imagining Possibilities, Inspiring Success’. Ms. Paulson and Mr. Costello who run the Vex Robotics after school club at Sam Sherratt each Friday will be presenting a workshop on Robotics at the conference.
