Good Evening Gators!

Students and staff were busy participating in both Mental Health Awareness and Education week activities this week.  They got to join in an anti-bullying presentation with a local author, take part in outdoor activities, mindful minutes, musical connections, as well as fun and educational activities in class and in our Learning Commons.  You can view some of these on Sam Sherratt (@SamSherrattPS) | Twitter    Ms. Byrne and Mrs. Belford won the Most Innovative Activity Award for their projects they did with students this week!

Volunteers still needed for EQAO

We are looking for parents to support in scribing (writing ideas verbatim)  one-to-one with a student in a quiet location. If you are interested in helping please contact the school or email Mrs. Neate (, Mrs. Belford ( or Mrs. Fazakas (

Student of Excellence

Congratulations to our Ella Chow from Mr. Goral’s class for winning our Student of Excellence Award! We are so proud of you Ella. You bring a positive attitude to everything you do, Sam Sherratt Rocks...because of you!

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees is Canada's largest literary event for young readers and is continuing to grow at Sam Sherratt. During the week of April 23 our students voted for their favourite books from the school aged programs. The Festival of Trees celebration is on May 14 for our intermediate students and May15th for our Junior students. Students who take part in the festival can attend an award ceremony, meet their favourite authors and illustrators at autographing sessions, win prizes, and participate in many fun activities that happen throughout the festival.

Encourage your child to participate next year in the fun event that runs from Jan to May.

SAM SHERRATT YEARBOOKS are still available for sale this weekend! Be sure to order your very own copy before it's too late! Just $25, you don't want to miss out! Available on School Cash Online.

Happy Mother’s Day!  Many of our students have been working hard on their innovative Mother’s Day crafts that will be making their way home this weekend.

Our Kindergarten classes also held their annual Mother’s Day tea this afternoon, letting our mom’s know how much we appreciate everything that they do!

Hello Future Gators,

Please find attached the flyer for our upcoming 2019-2020 Kindergarten Orientation.

Ms. Hunt and Ms. Lowry’s class have been enjoying their outdoor educational experiences.  In the pictures below our construction workers were fixing the big holes in the sandbox so they could use them. They all worked cooperatively together using their shovels.  Through exploration and conversations they learned about leveling and where the water goes.
