Gator Bites: Week of January 22nd

posted Jan 19, 2018, 4:18 PM by David Willoughby ‎[Staff]‎

Good evening Gator families!

It has been a fun week at Sam Sherratt! Students and staff have been busy learning during class time as well as the many extracurricular activities that are offered. We started basketball tryouts this week for the senior boys and girls teams. Our Junior girls and boys Volleyball teams have also begun. Our volunteer Grade 8 Best Buddies have been developing friendships with some of our students with special needs and our Peace Keepers and Peace Buddies have been helping make sure everyone has opportunities to take part in fun and inclusive activities. The Grade 2/3 Intramural Skittles club and Grade 3/4 Writing Club are off to a great start. Students continue to take part in our drumline, concert band and jazz band, as well as the intermediate and new primary Art Club to name a few! We are so happy to see our Gators have fun, develop new skills and get involved in their community.

Next week we are looking forward to the Comic/Writing Workshops that our Grade 2 to 5 students will take part in, as well as Bus Safety Presentations for all students.

Please remember that next month students will not have school on February 2nd and 16th for PA days, as well as Family Day on February 19th.

Some of our Sam Sherratt students enjoy playing hockey with the North Halton Twisters. This year, the North Halton Twisters PWBB Team were named a Top 10 Semi-Finalist in the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup and have won money for their local charities. They are asking for your support to please ask friends, family, co-workers, and sports families to view the video link below. The three videos with the most views will advance to the Good Deeds Cup Finals with a chance to win more money for their charities.

In Partnership,

Maggie Parker, Principal

Bita Watts - Vice Principal

and the Staff of Sam Sherratt
