Thank you to the Hydro Electricity representative that came to visit our school this week and shared safety presentations with all of our students from JK through to grade 8.

Our Symphonic Winds Band competed this week in the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival. They were amazing and came back with a Silver Plus medal! A huge thank you to the dedication of our fabulous music teacher, Mr. Smith! Thank you also to all the students and parents who support their children in practicing and being committed to our music program!

and the Staff of Sam Sherratt

Music News:

The Symphonic Winds were absolutely spectacular in their performance at the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival in Ancaster! Not only did they earn a Silver Plus rating at the festival, they received an official invitation to perform at the Musicfest National Festival this coming May in Toronto! This means our band performed within the top 30 percent of the bands at this regional festival. Bravo! We now get to share the stage with bands from all across Canada.

I am so proud of how they played, and how they represented themselves as true ambassadors of Sam Sherratt from the moment they stepped off the bus. I had many comments from the festival staff about how polite and well behaved they were. In fact, our adjudicators awarded us top marks in the Stage Presence & Deportment category. What a remarkable group of young people! It should also be noted that this was Sam Sherratt’s first ever appearance at a regional music festival.

A huge thanks goes to Mr. Goral who helped drive our instruments, and was an immense support throughout the entire trip!

Thanks also to the Sam Sherratt staff for your continued support of the Arts at our school! I know it means a lot to the students.

Mr. Smith
