Good Evening Gators!

Terry Fox Walk -

Thank you to all the students and families who supported our Terry Fox event by bringing in loonies and toonies and participating in our Terry fox walk. Thank you to Mr. Kryzanowski and the grade 8 students who were such great leaders! We were so proud of you, giving high 5’s and encouraging our younger students in their efforts. Go Gators!!

Volleyball -

Both the boys and girls volleyball teams have been practicing hard and kicked off their seasons this week with a couple games each.  Last night the senior boys volleyball team got their first win of the season! The boys lost the first game, only to storm back and win the last two to take the match! The boys continue their season next Tuesday as they travel to Anne J MacArthur. Meanwhile, the girls traveled to Brookville last night where they showed huge progress in playing out some set plays. Our girls won the first set, took a step back in the second set and stormed back to win the 3rd set and the match for their first victory of the seasons!  Our girls play at home next week on Tuesday, come out and support our team! GOOOOO GATORS! Thank you Mr. Baker, Mr. Kerschner, Mr. Aidoo and Mr. Goral for all your time coaching and supporting our players.

Student Council Elections -

Throughout the week our Intermediate students have worked hard to campaign for roles within our 2019-2020 Student Council. A forum was held where our Prime Minister nominees fought hard to win voters and voice their platforms. Posters were scattered throughout the hallways and today, our entire student body participated in the elections process!

Thank you Ms. Byrne for all of your hard work, and congratulations to all elected students!

Monday Voting at Sam Sherratt

Please be advised our school is being used as a Voting site on Monday, October 21stThis may restrict parking availability, and it will mean members of the community will be using our gym to vote throughout the course of the day.

Student Votes 2019: -

Students in Grades 1-8 will have the chance to vote in the Student Votes 2019 as well on Monday. The program, run by CIVIX, sends “ballots” to participating schools throughout Canada to allow students to vote for their local candidates. The votes are collected and tabulated, and we’re able to see how the students have voted in comparison to the rest of Canada! A really amazing opportunity, once again, to have our students involved in the democratic process.

Change of Name...not a new Principal.

Ms. Parker is now Ms. Thomson. This has been updated on the website as well.

Please note the change of email address is Thomsonma@hdsb.ca
